3D Printed Heart Innovations
Children’s Hospital of Illinois and Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center created exact replica models of children’s hearts in 2013. These models have become an important tool for surgical planning. The ability of a physician to hold a physical 3D model in hand creates a vastly better understanding of a patient's heart & how to treat it.

NIH 3D Print Exchange
We see many opportunities for sharing our 3D printed innovations. One of them is called the 3D Print Exchange Library, which is being created through a partnership between Jump and the National Institute of Health (NIH).
The library is making available highly accurate 3D heart models so doctors across the world can print and improve their understanding of cardiac anatomy. There are currently few, if any, other anatomic models that describe congenital heart disease in such exact details. The 3D Print Exchange is changing this. We have collaborated with leaders in the field across the U.S. to create a peer-review system that ensures accuracy in our library’s anatomic examples of complex heart anatomy.
