About the Staff

Teachers

Vicki Meyer is a certified K-12 Physical Education and Special Education teacher. She received her K-12 degree from Western Illinois University and her Master’s degree from Quincy University. She has taught in Jacksonville, Illinois school district and Roaring Fork Valley school district in Colorado.

Vicki finds working at the Children’s hospital to be not only rewarding but an opportunity to positively use what she’s learned from being a parent of a special needs child of her own.

In her spare time, she enjoys teaching GED classes in the evening, reading, walking, traveling, and watching her grandsons’ ballgames.

Holly Snyder is a certified general education teacher. She received her degree from the University of Missouri St. Louis in 2013.

Holly has taught in several educational environments with the majority of her focus being with middle school ages.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading a good book, and being outdoors when weather permits.

Paula Scott is our teacher’s aide. She has been working with the School Program since 2009, and she says it has been entirely rewarding. Before working with this program, she was a pediatric physical therapist at the Children’s Hospital.

Working in the School Program has allowed Paula to use her skills as a therapist, mother, and tutor to work with students and their studies.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, music, playing with her kids, watching their sporting events, and orphanage work.

Volunteers Tutors

We currently have 15 volunteers from the Peoria community and area colleges, with backgrounds ranging from engineering and teaching to homemaking and medical study. 

One of our volunteers is a retired Caterpillar executive. He excels in math and economics, but as a grandfather, he has learned to enjoy tutoring students of all ages. 

Another is a retired math teacher who tutors once a week in the classroom. She is our personal “math wizard” who can “cure” students with math phobias.
